Our History

In 1996, in response to various difficult lake-wide land title issues, the Raquette Lake Property Owners’ Association Inc. was formed which, in 2012, became the Raquette Lake Preservation Foundation Inc.  Since its genesis, two NYS Constitutional Amendments pertaining to Raquette Lake were ratified: one relating to the Township 40 property title disputes and the other allowing the village  to drill wells for drinking water.

As early as 2004, the group became active in the study, prevention, and remediation of Variable Leaf Milfoil (VLM) which resulted in the creation of the 2021 Lake Management Plan for Aquatic Invasive Species, supported by a grant from the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation.

The group has been advocating for the community on many additional fronts: access to electricity and internet, black fly abatement, town dock space, expansion of transfer station trash open hours, public bathrooms, noise abatement, Rt. 28 speed concerns, loon surveys, state lean-to repairs, lake water testing and shoreline surveys.  RLPF welcomes all who attend to the concerns of the Raquette Lake community and environment.
